Club Officers

Club MembersPresident - John Varda
John became a member of the Weddington Optimists in 2017. You could say he is a 3rd generation Optimist. His father and grandfather were also members of the Weddington Optimist club. John enjoys being part of a team working as a collective to achieve common goals. He and his wife Rachel are the proud parents of two children who are actively involved with WCWAA sport activities. 



Treasurer - Joan Beaulieu
Has been a member since 1999. In her role she has received both Distinguished and Honor club recognition for her work. Outside of her club work she also manages the financial needs for the Wesley Chapel Volunteer Fire Department (WCVFD).



Secretary - Tracey Clinton Tracey is proud to say she has been an Optimist since 2020. She has also served as a past president of the Weddington Optimist Club. In addition to her busy career she serves as the Weddington Optimist Club secretary. Her local community involvement includes coordinating club activities with the WCWAA (Weddington Wesley Chapel Athletic Association)

Past President - Bill Deter
Bill has been an Optimist since 2017. In addition to being a past president, he serves as the Social Media Chair and Marketing Chair for the NC West District. A retired business executive, he is married with a grown son and one grandson. He enjoys working with young people in the community.


Vice President - Chris Killion
Chris is a 24 year member of the Weddington Optimist club. He is a past club president (2 times) and currently serves on the executive board. Retired from the mortgage industry, he is married with three grown children. In addition to enjoying golf he also is always looking for opportunities to engage young people in the community.

Vice President - Milton Sheffield
Milton joined the Optimist club in 2006. He and his Sarah have been married for 25-years. He is chairman of the Aubrey Moore scholarship program for the optimist club. He enjoys jogging and disc golf. He is a member of the Queen City Ringers a community handbell group and also volunteers as part of the audio team at his church.
