Every year, high school students from all over North America participate in the Optimist Essay contest. Each Optimist club conducts competitions for youth under age 19 who are in the 10th, 11th or 12th grades. Essays are to be 700 to 800 words in length. This relates to about two type-written pages.
The essays will be judged at the club level, with the top entry being submitted to the North Carolina West Optimist District finals. The District winner is awarded a $2,500.00 college scholarship.
Essays are due to the Weddington Optimist club by February 14, 2025
